Expanding Access to Tesla’s Supercharger Network and NACS Support

By 2024, Ford began fulfilling its promise by providing complimentary NACS Fast Charging Adapters to its EV owners who requested them between February and June of that year. Today, Ford has successfully shipped approximately 140,000 of these adapters to reservation holders across the United States. Second-Generation NACS Fast Charging Adapter: More Robust and Reliable

In addition to expanding its charging network access, Ford has also unveiled a second-generation NACS Fast Charging Adapter. Co-developed with EV charging accessory manufacturer Lectron, the new adapter is designed to be more robust and reliable than its predecessor. It has been rigorously tested to withstand various environmental conditions, including snow, water submersion, and even being run over by an F-150 Lightning. The new adapter also features an integrated ergonomic handle for easier gripping and a vehicle interlock to prevent accidental unplugging during charging. These improvements address potential issues with the first-generation adapter, making it more user-friendly and durable over the vehicle’s lifetime.

The second-generation Ford Fast Charging Adapter is priced at $200, slightly cheaper than the $230 first-generation model.
