International Delight Coffee Creamer Recall: What You Need to Know

Recall Notice Issued for International Delight Coffee Creamers

A voluntary recall has been issued for certain bottles of International Delight coffee creamer due to customer complaints of spoilage and illness. The recall affects over 12,500 cases of two popular flavors: Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll and Hazelnut. These products were distributed in 31 states, including Florida, Texas, and New York. The recall was initiated by Danone North America, the parent company of International Delight, as a precautionary measure to address quality concerns.

What Products Are Affected?

The recall targets 32-ounce bottles of International Delight Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll and Hazelnut creamers with specific production codes and best-by dates. The Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll creamer has a best-by date of July 3, while the Hazelnut variety has a best-by date of July 2. Both products share the same production plant code: 51-4114 S. Consumers are advised to check their bottles for these details to determine if their product is part of the recall.

FDA Classification and Health Risks

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has categorized this recall as a Class II risk, indicating that the products may pose temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. While no life-threatening issues have been reported, the complaints of spoilage and illness prompted the manufacturer to take swift action to ensure consumer safety. The voluntary recall was officially labeled as Class II by the FDA on March 12, following an initial recall initiation on February 21.

International Delight’s Response to the Recall

Danone North America, the parent company of International Delight, has emphasized its commitment to quality and consumer safety. A representative stated that the company is addressing a "texture issue" reported by some consumers, which led to the recall. While testing confirmed that the issue does not constitute a food safety risk, the company chose to recall the products out of an abundance of caution. This decision reflects the company’s dedication to maintaining trust and ensuring the quality of its products.

Affected States and Distribution

The recalled creamers were sold in 31 states across the U.S., including Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Consumers in these states are encouraged to check their purchased creamers against the recalled lots.

What Consumers Should Do

Consumers who purchased the affected products are advised to stop using them immediately and contact the company for further instructions. While the recall is precautionary and no widespread safety risks have been identified, it is always best to err on the side of caution when it comes to food and beverage products. International Delight has assured customers that they are working diligently to resolve the issue and prevent future occurrences. For the latest updates on food recalls and safety alerts, consumers can stay informed through official FDA notifications and company communications.

This recall serves as a reminder of the importance of quality control and transparency in the food industry. While the situation is unfortunate, International Delight’s proactive approach demonstrates a commitment to protecting consumers and maintaining trust in their brand.
