Millie Bobby Brown on Finding Forever with Jake Bongiovi

Millie Bobby Brown, the star of Stranger Things, has opened up about her marriage to Jake Bongiovi, the son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi, in a recent episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast. The couple, who tied the knot in May 2024, has been together for four years, and their relationship has been built on a deep emotional and ideological connection. Brown shared that it was their alignment on politics and how they wanted to raise their children that made her realize she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. “When we started talking about politics and how we want to raise our kids, we started talking about really, really big things,” she said. This sense of certainty about their future together made their engagement and subsequent marriage feel like a natural progression. Brown admitted that while they had discussed marriage, the proposal still felt like a perfect moment where everything aligned.

A Wedding to Remember, Minus the "Bridezilla" Moment

Brown and Bongiovi’s wedding in May 2024 was a joyful celebration, but it wasn’t without its humorous moments. The actress, who was 20 at the time of the wedding, revealed that she was so focused on ensuring everything went smoothly that she almost forgot to put on her veil before walking down the aisle. “I had a really big wedding party, and I knew that right before I would go, ‘Okay, you guys go.’ And I knew the second that the song would go right, so I’d go, ‘You guys go, you guys go.’ Like, I was ready because they were walking down the aisle. And I had forgotten to put my veil on,” she recalled. Despite the chaos of the moment, Brown managed to compose herself and enjoy the ceremony. She emphasized that she wasn’t a “bridezilla” and didn’t stress about the details, but she did admit to being a meticulous planner who wanted everything to be perfect.

Settling Into Married Life on the Farm

After the wedding, the couple settled into a peaceful life on a farm in Georgia, where they share their home with 25 barn animals, 10 indoor dogs, and 23 outdoor rescue dogs. Brown, who purchased the farm while filming Stranger Things in Atlanta, explained that her parents encouraged her to live in Georgia to avoid the fast-paced lifestyle of Los Angeles. The farm has become a sanctuary for the couple, who both love the quiet, rural life. However, their love for animals has led to some playful disagreements. Brown revealed that her husband had to sit her down and say, “No more,” referring to her tendency to bring home more animals. Despite this, the farm remains a central part of their lives, offering them a sense of stability and fulfillment.

Addressing the "Trad Wife" Label

Brown has faced speculation that she is embracing the “trad wife” lifestyle, a subculture that emphasizes traditional gender roles and homemaking. While she understands why people might make that assumption—given her young marriage, love for farming, and decision to cook dinner for her husband every night—she doesn’t fully identify with the label. “I get it, like I understand why they would say that,” she said. “I have chickens, I get the eggs, I know what it looks like from afar. I did get married young. It’s all really veering in that direction, except I love my job, I love being untraditional and unconventional in so many ways of my life.” Brown emphasized that her choices are personal and not about conforming to societal expectations. She also playfully noted that if she were a “trad wife,” then Jake might be labeled a “trad husband.”

Balancing Career and Family Goals

While Brown is currently focused on her career as an actress and producer, she has always dreamed of starting a family. Her desire to become a mother stems from her upbringing; her own mother had her first child at 21, and Brown has long admired her parents’ approach to parenthood. However, her husband, Jake, had one condition before they could start a family: they had to get married first. Brown admitted that this was a compromise she was willing to make, given how much she values family life. Now that they are married, the couple is looking forward to building a future together, though they are taking things one step at time. Brown made it clear that she wants a big family, given that she and her husband are both part of large families themselves.

Looking Ahead to the Future

As Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi continue to navigate their marriage, they are finding joy in the little things, from life on the farm to their shared goals for the future. Brown reflected on the emotional highs and lows of her wedding day, calling it “lightning in a bottle,” and admitted that she experienced a post-wedding “comedown” after the excitement of the celebration. But with time, she and her husband have settled into a rhythm that works for them, balancing their personal and professional aspirations. With their farm, their animals, and their deep love for each other, the couple is building a life that feels authentic and fulfilling. As they look ahead, they are ready to embrace whatever comes next, whether it’s expanding their family or continuing to grow in their careers. For now, they are content with the life they’ve created together.
