Construction has commenced on a state-of-the-art care facility in Aberdeen, heralding the arrival of a £20 million project set to redefine elderly care standards in the region. The ambitious development, spearheaded by Meallmore, promises an array of cutting-edge amenities and services aimed at enhancing the quality of life for its future residents.
Nestled in the picturesque Pitfodels area, the 65-bed care home, dubbed Pitfodels Wood, is slated for completion in the forthcoming autumn/winter season of 2025. Situated along the North Deeside Road, adjacent to The Marcliffe Hotel, the facility is poised to become a beacon of excellence in senior care provision.
Among its myriad features, Pitfodels Wood boasts communal balconies affording breath taking vistas of the scenic Deeside Valley, underscoring a commitment to providing residents with an enriching living environment. Furthermore, private balconies attached to select bedrooms will offer unparalleled views, fostering a sense of tranquillity and connection with nature.
The architectural design, characterised by a four-storey ‘L’ shaped structure, has been meticulously crafted to optimise sightlines of the surrounding verdant woodland, epitomising a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetics. Ensconced within meticulously landscaped gardens, the care home prioritises seamless integration with the outdoors, promoting physical activity and wellbeing among its occupants.
Internally, Pitfodels Wood is replete with an array of upscale facilities catering to the diverse needs and preferences of its residents. From a fully-equipped cinema and a cosy café to a private dining room and a sophisticated beauty salon, the care home offers a multifaceted living experience aimed at fostering social engagement and personal fulfilment.
Moreover, the project is poised to inject vitality into the local economy, with the creation of approximately 80 full-time equivalent positions spanning various roles including nurses, care assistants, administrative staff, and managerial personnel. This influx of employment opportunities is expected to catalyse economic growth within the neighbouring communities, underscoring the care home’s role as a catalyst for positive change.
The construction endeavour is being spearheaded by Clark Contracts, a renowned player in the field of construction and development. A ceremonial sod-cutting event held on 28 March marked the official commencement of works, attended by key stakeholders from Meallmore and Clark Contracts.
Regarding the project, the property director expressed enthusiasm for the venture, stating, “Set in beautiful grounds and using impressive architectural attributes, Pitfodels Wood is going to be a stunning place to live. It will provide the highest quality facilities for our residents, offering personalised care to meet personal needs, empowering individuals to maintain their desired levels of independence.”
Echoing those sentiments, a Director at Clark Contracts affirmed the company’s commitment to delivering excellence, remarking, “We are excited to be working with Meallmore to deliver this major new development, which will provide first class facilities for residents. We look forward to working with Meallmore, the design team, and wider community as we deliver the project.”
In summary, the advent of Pitfodels Wood heralds a new era in elderly care provision, blending architectural sophistication with a steadfast commitment to enhancing residents’ quality of life. With its innovative design, premium amenities, and economic contributions, the care home stands poised to redefine the standards of senior living in Aberdeen and beyond.
