The much-adored Boundary Road Play Area in West Bridgford has flung open its gates once again, much to the delight of locals and visitors, after undergoing a substantial £63,000 makeover. The rejuvenated space now boasts an array of exciting new features, including a climbing wall, zip wire, accessible seesaw, swing sets, benches, and revamped springers and other play equipment for toddlers and juniors, accompanied by enhancements to the safety surface.
The comprehensive overhaul also involved replacing a large earth mound with more accessible equipment, seamlessly blending natural play elements into the surroundings. This refurbishment underscores Rushcliffe Borough Council’s (RBC) ongoing commitment to enhancing recreational spaces, as evidenced by last year’s £80,000 makeover of Adbolton Lane play park. Moreover, plans are afoot to further improve Greythorn Drive and Rushcliffe Country Park this spring, reaffirming RBC’s dedication to promoting community well-being through accessible and inviting public spaces.
The reopening of the Boundary Road Play Area was marked by a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by representatives from Rushcliffe Borough Council, Proludic Ltd, and enthusiastic children from Heymann Primary School on Monday, 15 January.
A spokesperson for Rushcliffe Borough Council expressed satisfaction with the project’s completion, stating, “Community play facilities such as these are vital for our residents and visitors, and we are thrilled to provide these essential upgrades to the park, ensuring its long-term improvement and suitability for the future. The redevelopment of Boundary Road introduces accessible and inclusive equipment, allowing all children to enjoy our play facilities, which also incorporate natural play elements. It was wonderful to welcome Year 2 children from Heymann Primary School to the park and see them enjoy the newly refurbished facilities!”
The Deputy Head Teacher of Heymann Primary School conveyed gratitude to the council for inviting the school to the park’s reopening. She remarked, “We’re thrilled to see the park open again, and the children had a fantastic time playing on all the wonderful playground equipment. We’re particularly pleased to see accessible features so that all our children can enjoy the park!”
