A chilling incident unfolded on Sunday evening as a three-vehicle collision occurred on Brooklands Road, near the junction with Whitehall Road, prompting a rapid response from emergency services. The 6:30 pm incident saw technical response units, police, paramedics, and the fire service converge on the scene, leading to the closure of Brooklands Road for several hours.

The aftermath revealed two badly damaged vehicles within the cordon, attesting to the severity of the crash. One individual managed to free himself before emergency crews arrived, but another was trapped, requiring fire crews to employ specialized tools for his extraction.

Paramedics promptly tended to the rescued individual at the scene before urgently transferring him to the hospital. As of now, details regarding his condition remain undisclosed.

Eyewitnesses on the scene, including one of the first to arrive, reported a total of four individuals involved across the three vehicles. Remarkably, the others self-rescued before paramedics arrived, potentially avoiding further harm.

A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMRFS) shared additional details on the incident, stating, “At around 6:30 pm on Sunday, 14th January, firefighters responded to reports of a crash at the junction of Whitehall Road and Brooklands Road in Sale.”

The spokesperson continued, “Two fire engines from Sale and Altrincham fire stations, along with the technical response unit from Ashton fire station, swiftly arrived at the scene, which involved three vehicles. One man had self-rescued before the arrival of the fire service, and another was extricated from the vehicle and received medical care from fire service personnel before being transferred to the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS). Crews remain at the scene as they clear the roadway of debris.”

Photographs from the scene vividly captured the aftermath, showing the taped-off area and the damaged vehicles. The road closure caused disruptions, with local residents navigating alternative routes while emergency crews worked diligently to manage the situation.

As the investigation unfolds, it remains uncertain if any arrests were made in connection with the crash. Further details are sought from Greater Manchester Police, shedding light on the circumstances leading to the collision and any potential legal consequences.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of road safety and the crucial role played by emergency services in ensuring a swift and effective response to mitigate the consequences of such accidents. Local authorities emphasize the importance of caution and adherence to traffic regulations to prevent similar incidents. The community eagerly awaits updates on the hospitalized individual’s condition, hoping for a full recovery.
