Nicolas Cage’s Ex-Girlfriend Dismisses Him from Lawsuit Against Their Son Weston

Nicolas Cage’s ex-girlfriend, Christina Fulton, has dismissed the actor from her lawsuit, which alleged that he enabled their son, Weston Coppola Cage, before Weston’s alleged mental health crisis in April 2024. According to court documents obtained by People, Fulton’s attorney requested the dismissal, meaning Nicolas will no longer be a defendant in the case. However, Fulton is still pursuing her claims against Weston, who is accused of physically attacking her at her Los Angeles home during the alleged breakdown. The dismissal is “with prejudice,” which prohibits Fulton from pursuing the matter against Nicolas in the future.

Fulton’s Allegations Against Nicolas Cage

In her lawsuit, Fulton, 57, claimed that Nicolas, 61, was negligent and failed to prevent Weston from committing acts of violence. She alleged that Nicolas enabled their son’s “reckless” lifestyle and did not provide him with the necessary psychiatric help. Fulton also claimed that Nicolas consumed alcohol with Weston, despite being aware of his history of substance abuse. Additionally, she accused Nicolas of bailing Weston out of jail on multiple occasions. Fulton’s lawsuit painted Weston as a man with a history of mental instability and violent behavior, alleging that Nicolas knew or should have known that Weston posed a danger to others, including her.

Nicolas Cage’s Defense

Nicolas Cage’s attorney has called Fulton’s allegations “absurd and frivolous.” In a statement shared with Page Six, the attorney emphasized that Weston Coppola Cage is a 34-year-old adult and that Nicolas does not control his behavior or bear responsibility for the alleged assault on his mother. The statement underscored that Nicolas is not liable for Weston’s actions, dismissing Fulton’s claims as baseless. This response highlights the legal and emotional complexities of the case, with both sides presenting conflicting narratives.

The Alleged Incident and Its Aftermath

The lawsuit stems from an alleged incident in April 2024, when Weston was reportedly named as a suspect in a battery report after an altercation at Fulton’s home. Days later, Fulton was seen with a black eye, and in July 2024, Weston was arrested in connection with the incident. During the arrest, Weston pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with a deadly weapon. In a statement to TMZ, Weston claimed that his mother was the one who “needs help,” adding another layer of tension to the family drama. The case has drawn attention to the challenges of addressing mental health and legal responsibilities within a family context.

Christina Fulton’s Emotional Stance

Fulton has expressed heartbreak over suing her own son but said she felt she had no other option. In an interview with TMZ, she stated, “I have done this alone, been left alone … and I hold a lot of people responsible, especially the LAPD.” Fulton’s comments suggest a sense of isolation and frustration, as she seeks accountability for the alleged harm she suffered. Her decision to pursue legal action against her son underscores the difficult choices families often face when dealing with mental health crises and interpersonal violence.

The Ongoing Legal Battle

While Nicolas Cage has been dismissed from the lawsuit, the legal battle between Fulton and Weston continues. Fulton’s claims against Weston remain active, and the case could shed light on the broader issues of accountability and support for individuals struggling with mental health and substance abuse. For now, the situation remains unresolved, leaving all parties involved in a state of emotional and legal limbo. As the case progresses, it will likely continue to draw attention to the challenges of balancing personal responsibility with systemic support for those in crisis.
