A recent operation in Walton, Merseyside, witnessed law enforcement discovering a stash of stolen vehicles, leading to the apprehension of two suspects. The raid, prompted by a report received around 11 am on Tuesday, April 2, detailed the sighting of a stolen vehicle cruising along Rice Lane. Further investigations unveiled that the vehicle was being transported atop a low loader truck.
Upon intercepting the truck, police promptly detained the driver, a 40-year-old Liverpool resident, on suspicion of handling stolen goods. Following this initial arrest, authorities proceeded to conduct a thorough search of an associated garage, also located on Rice Lane. Inside, they made a significant discovery: several stolen vehicles, all of which were promptly seized for further examination.
The operation concluded with the apprehension of a 60-year-old individual, also from Liverpool, who was found within the confines of the garage. Like his counterpart, he was detained on suspicion of involvement in handling stolen goods. Both individuals have since been conditionally bailed, pending further investigation into the matter.
Currently, crime scene investigators are actively engaged in scrutinising the seized vehicles, while a police cordon remains in place on Rice Lane to facilitate ongoing investigations. A representative of Merseyside Police commended the vigilance of the officers involved, emphasising the significance of their timely intervention.
“Thanks to the vigilance and alertness of officers, we have recovered a large number of vehicles we believe to have been stolen, and detained two individuals,” stated the police representative. “We take all reports of car thefts seriously and are committed to reducing the number of offences in Merseyside.”
They further underscored the proactive stance of law enforcement in both patrolling and responding to reports of suspicious activities on the roads, highlighting the overarching aim of mitigating car thefts within the region.
“We urge anyone who has any intelligence or knows someone involved in this type of crime to contact Merseyside Police social media desk @MerPolCC so we can investigate,” urged the police representative, appealing to the public for their cooperation in combatting such criminal activities.
The unearthing of stolen vehicles in Walton serves as a testament to the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies in tackling criminal activities within the community. With investigations ongoing, authorities remain steadfast in their commitment to upholding law and order, whilst encouraging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities they encounter.
