In a concerted effort to address mounting concerns over anti-social behaviour, Cheshire Constabulary’s Western Problem Solving Team launched Operation Scrambler aimed at curbing off-road biker activities in Delamere Forest.

Responding to reports of disruptive behaviour involving scrambler bikes and electric bicycles, officers from various units, including Chester Local Policing Unit, Roads Policing, Drone Unit, and Rural Crime, collaborated with the Forestry Commission and Cheshire West and Chester Council on Saturday, June 1.

A local PCSO raised concerns after engaging with residents. A joint enforcement operation was swiftly mobilised to address the issue proactively and ensure robust measures against those utilising illegal bikes, thereby enhancing community safety.

The operation involved patrols throughout the forest, with officers engaging visitors to address the issue directly. Despite the proactive approach, no significant incidents were reported, with the public’s response described as overwhelmingly positive.

The operation not only yielded positive feedback but also provided valuable intelligence to enhance effectiveness in targeting offenders. Commitment remains to conducting similar operations to deter such behaviour effectively.

The partnership between law enforcement agencies, local authorities, and community engagement reflects a concerted effort to address anti-social behaviour and uphold public safety within Delamere Forest.

Delamere Forest, renowned for its picturesque landscapes and recreational opportunities, has been increasingly plagued by incidents involving off-road bikers flouting regulations, prompting authorities to take decisive action.

Such collaborative efforts not only aim to mitigate immediate disruptions but also serve as a deterrent against future instances of anti-social behaviour, fostering a safer environment for all forest visitors.

Moving forward, Cheshire Constabulary remains dedicated to employing proactive strategies and collaborative initiatives to address emerging challenges and uphold the tranquillity and safety of Delamere Forest for residents and visitors alike.
