A significant development in Exeter’s hospitality sector is on the horizon as plans for the Voco Zeal hotel at Exeter Science Park near completion, with an expected opening date of January 2025.
The recent topping out ceremony marked a crucial milestone as the 142-bedroom hotel reached its highest point during construction. With work progressing as scheduled, the project is currently in its 39th week of a 75-week construction programme. Notably, the hotel is designed to have half the embodied carbon of a standard hotel, aligning with its commitment to sustainability.
Central to the Voco Zeal hotel’s ethos is its dedication to sustainability. The building will generate all its electricity from photovoltaic roof and wall panels, contributing to its eco-friendly credentials. Impressively, the project has already met the 2030 sustainability target for carbon emissions during construction, setting a new benchmark for environmentally conscious development.
Beyond its environmental impact, the Voco Zeal hotel is expected to have a positive economic influence on the region. By sourcing produce locally and creating employment opportunities, the hotel aims to stimulate economic growth and attract environmentally conscious travellers to the city.
The development of the Voco Zeal hotel is a collaborative effort, with Zeel Hotels partnering with industry leaders such as IHG Hotels and Resorts and Valor Hospitality. Through strategic alliances and a shared vision for sustainability, the project is set to redefine luxury hospitality while prioritising environmental responsibility.
Looking ahead, the impending opening of the Voco Zeal hotel signals a new era of sustainable luxury in Exeter’s hospitality landscape. With its innovative design, eco-friendly features, and commitment to economic growth, the hotel is poised to become a beacon of responsible tourism in the region.
