A budding entrepreneur is on the verge of launching a vintage clothing store in Caernarfon, Wales. The 24-year-old, originally from Carmarthenshire but now settled in the historic town after attending Bangor University, is eager to open the doors to his new venture.
Reflecting on his decision to make Caernarfon his home, he spoke warmly of the area’s charm and the friendly locals. “Studying in Bangor for four years made me fall in love with the area,” he said. “Moving to Caernarfon was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
Starting his business journey online, he found success selling vintage clothes through platforms like Depop and Instagram. Wanting to expand further, he joined the Mentro initiative with the Llwyddo’n Lleol project, receiving support from Hwb Menter, a programme aiding town centre businesses in Gwynedd and Anglesey.
Now, he’s preparing to open his first physical store, ‘Cymro Vintage’, on Palace Street in Caernarfon. “I’m thrilled to see my dream of having a shop come true,” he said. “I hope it grows and eventually, I can hire staff to join me at events and pop-up shops.”
Grateful for the assistance he received, he credited the Mentro initiative for boosting his confidence and fostering a supportive environment. “Surrounded by people who believed in me was a real boost,” he added.
An officer from the Mentro initiative echoed these sentiments, expressing pride in the entrepreneur’s achievements. “We’re proud to have played a part in his journey,” he stated. “Our aim is to support young individuals in their local communities, equipping them with the skills needed to succeed.”

With optimism abound, the venture promises to make its mark on Caernarfon’s retail scene, ushering in a new era of economic vitality and local enterprise.
