omePod mini, as the name suggests, is the smaller version of HomePod launched back in late 2017. Apple announced the product along with its new iPhones in the hi-speed event on Tuesday. The outer appearance of the smart speaker is similar to its older full-size version, though there is a new light-emitting touch panel on the top. It also has the ability to interact with other Apple devices with U1 chip.
It will be available to pre-order in India from November 6th while the sales will begin from November 16th. In India, it has been priced at Rs. 9,900 while it only costs $99 in the U.S. However, it is about half the price of the older HomePod but twice as much as the price of Google nest Mini and Echo Dot. It will be available in two colors, White and Space Grey.
Specs and Features!
The processor used in the device is Apple S5 which also powers the Series 5 of Apple Watches. To enable the Ultra-Wideband support, there’s a U1 chip in the device. It will enable it to interact with the other Apple devices with the U1 chip. Further, Apple is also working towards wider Homekit support and functionality.
There’s a new feature called intercom in HomePod mini that enables the user to send a message from one device to another such as an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and even car play. However, it can only work within the house or to a certain range.
Further, Apple also promises to protect user’s privacy and use encryption. Hence, you do not need to worry about the requests you make to Siri.
So, if you are planning to get a smart speaker then HomePod mini is the way to go. Although it is a bit expensive as compared to other similar devices, it offers the best experience.
